Gondwana Records is thrilled to announce the release of a limited-edition two-track 12” from the immersive LA deep-jazz ensemble, Phi-Psonics. Led by the talented bassist Seth Ford-Young, the group features Sylvain Carton on woodwinds, Mitchell Yoshida on electric piano, and Josh Collazo on drums. This special release, titled “Morning Sun / Arrival,” is set to drop on September 6th and is limited to just 500 BioVinyl copies.

The lead single, ‘Morning Sun,’ draws inspiration from the diverse musical environment of Seth Ford-Young’s neighborhood. Ford-Young elaborates, “The live music in my neighborhood ranges from regional Mexican styles like Mariachi and Banda to Cumbia, Salsa, and Reggaeton, along with Oldies or ‘Brown-Eyed Soul.’ Sometimes, the same band will play multiple styles throughout the evening, creating an intriguing ‘mashup.’ These sounds permeate my music, becoming part of my sonic DNA.”

Phi-Psonics, known for their beautiful and immersive deep-jazz compositions, continues to explore rich and dynamic soundscapes with this new release. The ensemble’s unique blend of instruments and styles results in a captivating auditory experience, reflecting the vibrant and multicultural backdrop of Los Angeles. With each member bringing their distinct musical prowess, the group’s sound is both cohesive and exploratory.

“Morning Sun / Arrival” will be available on September 6th, but only in a very limited run. With just 500 BioVinyl 12” copies being produced, this release is sure to be a collector’s item for jazz aficionados and vinyl enthusiasts alike.
