Our innate desire for connection with the ethereal expands in Heith’s second album under PAN – “Escape Lounge”. Reflective of contemporary digital mysticism and cerebral subversions, its inspiration is deeply embedded in the digitalized folklore of the 21st century. Coaxing diverse sounds in unison out of Milan, Berlin, London, and Stockholm, this monumental undertaking is akin to connecting diverse dots on a celestial chart.
Conceptually, “Escape Lounge” is an effective metaphor for an airport lounge – a vestibule for examining the depths of your subconscious. This profound examination can either lead to an enlightening level of intellectual fulfillment, or sink one into an abyss. Pocketed throughout this audio map are numerous artists that co-contribute, such as Leonardo Rubboli, Aase Nielsen, Alexander Iezzi, Price, and James K. Their invisible touch adds a spectral soundtrack that is an aural translation of melancholy after hypnotic stupor.
Each track of “Escape Lounge” is an equilibrium of acoustic and digital music, human voices, and a cocktail of many different innovative influences. You notice contoured reflections of ’90s experimental pop, ’00s indie-folk, and psychedelic influences stretching back even further in time. The melodies bring forth a synthesis of classical elements intertwined with modern trip-hop, creating a hybrid that distinctly echoes the likes of M.E.S.H and Hesaitix. It’s like turning back the chronological wheel of music but preserving its profundity.
Heith’s approach to music is akin to a primal painter adding intricate touches of color to a vast canvas. The electronics team up with their more conventional instrumental counterparts to deliver a palette that ranges from chamber-jazz licks to downstroke beats, rolling out a panorama of playful synthetic melodies. This aural carnival shifts from the haunting drone to the gentle ebb of ambient sounds, warranting the listener’s full attention.
Heith precisely interweaves synthesizers with the rhythmic strumming of a guitar, using his numerical sculpting technique. The resulting aural collage draws the listener into a dimension where reality appears unrecognizable. “Escape Lounge”, not only offers a captivating lifeline to untold dimensions but also cages you within its cyclical rhythm – creating an auditory version of an Escher print.
By 2025, the anticipation for Heith’s live performance and audio-visual tapestry dubbed “The Talk” will come to a head. Complete with James K and Günseli Yalcinkaya’s contributions, these premiering wonders will take center stage at most of the high-profile platforms of the art world, such as the Sonar Festival and Terraforma. With this artist’s boundless creativity and artistic collaboration, the future of music looks to be breaking new grounds.
