London-based music maestro, Alfa Mist, renowned for his unique blend of hip-hop, jazz improvisation, and club styles, takes his listeners into an unusual sonic universe with his latest studio output, “Roulette”. Released in 2025, this album marks Alfa’s sixth major endeavour in music production. Remaining true to his distinctive personal style, this album is an imaginative exploration of a dystopian world with a twist of reincarnation.
“Roulette”, comprises fifteen tracks, each presenting a different character’s perspective, creating a narrative that contemplates an imagined future where the possibility of reincarnation redefines human understanding of past lives and dreams. The central theme employed in Alfa’s music questions the uses or abuses of knowledge across multiple lifetimes; a query pondering if knowledge accumulation could result in power-struggles within an evolving society.
Alfa Mist’s proficiency as a musician, producer, and songwriter is well reflected in “Roulette”. The album’s recurring themes of redemption, forgiveness and revenge are carefully draped around an intertwining soundscape of his trademark intuitive grooves and radiant keys. Furthermore, the infusion of a subtly hinted smoky psychedelia adds an extra mystique layer to the whole experience.
Born as Alfa Sekitoleko, our trailblazer is originally from Newham, London, where his musical journey commenced at a young age of fifteen. Inspired by his music teacher’s rendition of John Legend’s “Ordinary People”, his genuine interest in music led to him teaching himself piano. While he had his heart set on a career in football, his mother’s insistence on a well-structured education guided him toward studying music composition.
Alfa’s early work includes a 2015 solo EP “Nocturne”, and over the years, he’s collaborated with prominent artists like Jordan Rakei, Tom Misch and Yussef Dayes. He’s also the proud owner of a music label – Sekito. His 2021 album “Bring Backs” was released under the American independent music label Anti-, highlighting his recognition beyond just the UK. Also, in the same year, he delivered an impressive performance at the We Out Here Festival and was nominated for the coveted MOBO Awards.
In conclusion, Alfa Mist’s “Roulette” invites the listener to embark on a mind-bending journey into a dystopian future. Poignant and immersive, this 2025-released album is testament to Alfa Mist’s evolving artistry, illustrating his unabridged ability to seamlessly blend complex themes with a motley of musical styles.
