James Blake has revealed the upcoming release of his new album titled ‘Playing Robots Into Heaven’, which will be his first solo work since his 2021 LP ‘Friends That Break Your Heart’. The album is scheduled to be released on September 8 through Polydor/Republic Records.

‘Playing Robots Into Heaven’ is expected to delve into the dance music sound that James Blake first introduced through his earlier releases on labels like Hemlock Recordings, R&S, and Hessle Audio. This follows his CMYK party series launch with Rhonda INTL in LA last March, and he is set to bring the party to the London venue HERE on Thursday, July 6.

Accompanying the announcement is the lead single ‘Big Hammer’, which combines bleepy instrumentals with fast-paced and warped vocals submerged into the mix. The music video for the single, directed by Oscar Hudson (known for his work with artists like Radiohead and Bonobo), follows a group of individuals on a joy-ride as they steal from multiple shops.

In addition to the album release, James Blake has also unveiled details of a European and North American headline tour, including a show at London’s Alexandra Palace. The tour commences just 10 days after the album’s release in Milan on September 18, and will visit cities such as Paris, Montreal, Los Angeles, and more.
