Mersiv, a powerhouse of freeform bass, has been captivating fans with his unique soundscapes for a while now. His previous album “Pretty Dark Loud” was a testament to his unmistakable style, but as the Denver-based producer gears up for the release of his upcoming album “Out of Bounds”, one can’t help but wonder what’s in store.

On August 18, the first sneak peek of the album titled “I Like It When You Move” will be out. Drawing inspiration from the “Liquid Strangers” tour and various artists, Mersiv describes it as a “free-flowing, heavy, fun atmosphere”, setting the tone for the entire album.

Unlike his last creation, which was characterized by longer tracks, the new album promises to be an exciting mix of shorter songs with a higher emphasis on vocals. Explaining his shift towards more vocals, Mersiv says, “In my live shows, I always mash up songs with a lot of vocals from other tracks, to give them a new flavour and a new life.” The overarching theme of “Out of Bounds” revolves around having fun, being in the present, and losing oneself in the rhythm.

After a break post “Pretty Dark Loud”, Mersiv’s return to production was marked by increased confidence and intent. This newfound assurance might be attributed to milestones like selling out Red Rocks – a moment Mersiv recounts as one of the best days of his life.

Going beyond just music, the artist is set to embark on a grand tour, unveiling a brand-new visual experience created in collaboration with visual artist Joseph Allen. PK Sound, known for its cutting-edge auditory systems, will also be joining the tour, amplifying the concert experience.

When quizzed about the future, Mersiv hopes his upcoming album resonates with a broader audience. His dream is to play at venues like Red Rocks again and to continue evolving his signature sound for the next decade or more. Delving deeper into his sound, Mersiv labels it as “freeform bass”, a mix of several electronic subgenres amalgamated into one. His label, MorFlo Records, aims to propel this genre, maintaining an open-minded approach towards various musical influences.

In his words, Mersiv hopes the new album and tour will enable him to introduce “bigger production and bigger sounds in the future.” Given his track record and passion for the craft, the future indeed looks promising for Mersiv and his fans.
