Alessandro Cortini is set to release “Nati Infiniti,” a 40-minute composition that originated as an immersive audio installation at the Museu de Lisboa’s Fábrica da Moagem, a disused flour mill in Lisbon. This piece was commissioned by Sónar Lisboa 2022, capturing the essence and ambience of the original installation, which spanned across four floors of the mill, each evoking a different state through Cortini’s meticulous sound design.
“Nati Infiniti” employs the Strega instrument, which Cortini co-designed with Make Noise, an innovative synthesizer company. The composition is divided into five parts, each showcasing the unique sonic capabilities of this instrument and reflecting the different atmospheres of the mill’s floors. The installation provided listeners with a multi-sensory experience, immersing them in Cortini’s distinct auditory landscapes.
Following its debut as a live audio-visual performance at Berlin’s Atonal Festival, “Nati Infiniti” received widespread acclaim. Each performance was an improvised version, ensuring that no two concerts were alike, showcasing Cortini’s ability to adapt and evolve his work in real-time. This approach resonated deeply with audiences, leading to a series of sold-out shows.
Building on this success, Cortini is scheduled to take “Nati Infiniti” on tour across North America and Europe throughout 2024 and into 2025. This tour promises to bring the immersive experience of “Nati Infiniti” to a wider audience, allowing more listeners to engage with Cortini’s innovative blend of ambient soundscapes and live improvisation. As a musician known for his contributions to the electronic and experimental music scenes, Cortini’s latest work continues to push boundaries and explore new sonic territories.
