#thego!teamTo mark the 20th anniversary of their seminal album Thunder, Lightning, Strike, The Go! Team has embarked on an exciting project, inviting a diverse array of artists to remix, rework, and reimagine tracks from the album. Each month leading up to the album’s reissue in September, a new remix will be unveiled. This ambitious series has already featured reinterpretations by artists such as Cornershop, Louie Zong, lilien rosarian, and CV Vision. Adding to this eclectic mix, London-based quartet Los Bitchos has now delivered a psychedelic, guitar-infused rendition of “Junior Kickstart.”
The Go! Team’s founder Ian Parton expressed his enthusiasm for the unique reinterpretation by Los Bitchos, highlighting how the band’s distinctive cumbia, acrobat, and surf twang transforms the familiar motifs of “Junior Kickstart.” This ongoing project showcases the dynamic and varied influences that have shaped The Go! Team’s music, while also celebrating the band’s ability to inspire a new generation of musicians. The remixes will continue to be released throughout 2024, culminating in a series of live performances across the UK, Ireland, and the US in the autumn.
The Go! Team will bring their energetic live shows to various venues, including a sold-out performance in Dublin in September and a newly announced hometown show at Brighton’s Corn Exchange on December 9. These concerts will feature the band playing Thunder, Lightning, Strike in its entirety, offering fans a nostalgic yet fresh experience of the classic album. The band’s live performances are known for their vibrant energy and eclectic sound, blending indie rock, garage rock, funk, Bollywood soundtracks, double Dutch chants, old school hip hop, and distorted guitars.
Formed in Brighton, England, The Go! Team began as the brainchild of Ian Parton. The unexpected success of their debut album led Parton to assemble a full band for live performances and subsequent releases. The group’s innovative sound combines live instrumentation with diverse samples, creating a unique fusion that has resonated with fans worldwide. The band’s live shows are characterized by the dynamic presence of lead vocalist Ninja, whose performances are complemented by an array of sampled and guest voices on their recordings.
As The Go! Team continues to celebrate the legacy of Thunder, Lightning, Strike, the remix project and upcoming live shows serve as a testament to the band’s enduring influence and creativity. Fans old and new can look forward to experiencing the album in a whole new light, as it is reimagined by some of today’s most exciting artists.
