Daft Punk has recently released a new video series called ‘Memory Tapes’, wherein they reflect on the creation of their final album, ‘Random Access Memories’. This series consists of eight episodes that provide an exclusive glimpse into the making of the album, as well as featuring interviews with the various collaborators who contributed to its creation. These collaborators share their favorite memories and discuss the profound impact that Daft Punk and the album have had on their own music and careers.

The first two episodes of ‘Memory Tapes’ include contributions from The Strokes’ frontman Julian Casablancas, who collaborated with the French duo on the track ‘Instant Crush’, as well as pianist Chilly Gonzales, who played on the songs ‘Within’ and ‘Give Life Back To Music’. Future episodes will feature interviews and insights from Pharrell Williams, Todd Edwards, DJ Falcon, Nile Rodgers, and others. These interviews were conducted at Henson Studios in Los Angeles and Gang Studios in Paris, two of the five locations where ‘Random Access Memories’ was recorded. Each episode also showcases previously unseen studio footage of Daft Punk during the recording process.

The ‘Memory Tapes’ series forms part of the 10th-anniversary celebrations for the album, which was initially released in 2013. Other anniversary content includes a reissue of the LP featuring unheard tracks like ‘Infinity Repeating’, and a re-release of a mini-documentary series made about the album back in 2013.

Meanwhile, in separate news, Daft Punk member Guy-Manuel recently received producer credits on Travis Scott’s latest album, ‘Utopia’, specifically for his work on the track ‘MODERN JAM’ featuring Teezo Touchdown. Earlier this year, Thomas Bangalter, one-half of Daft Punk, explained the reasons behind their split in 2021. He expressed concerns about the rise of artificial intelligence and how it was often misunderstood by fans. Bangalter emphasized that Daft Punk aimed to use machines to convey emotions that only humans could truly feel, and that their focus was always on humanity rather than technology.

Following their departure, Bangalter announced his first solo album in over 20 years, titled ‘Mythologies’. Originally conceived as a ballet score, it was performed at Bordeaux’s Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux in July of last year.
