Dais Records Presents: AURAGRAPH’s ‘New Standard’

Texan-turned-Angeleno progressive vaporwave producer Carlos Ramirez, aka AURAGRAPH, is gearing up to shift focus to the dance floor with his upcoming album, ‘New Standard’, presented by Dais Records. Comprising eight tracks of cosmic acid house and liquid rave glide, the album is inspired by lessons Ramirez learned during a 5,000-mile American road trip tour in the summer of 2022. Subsequently, he embarked on a mission to create an explicitly DJ-friendly record in his Simi Valley Tuff Shed filled with synths and hardware. As Ramirez puts it, “I realized I wanted to make a record where every track could go off in a live setting.”
The resulting cuts deliver on this promise, featuring revved and rhythmic tunes peppered with slap bass, Madchester whistles, filtered acid, gated snares, baggy cowbell, and sample pack classics – record scratches, orchestral stabs, the “Yeah! Woo!” from Lynn Collins’ “Think (About It).” The process of creating the album, as Ramirez describes it, was immediate and instinctual: “I’d turn on the MPC, pick a tempo, and just improv – it was incredibly fun.”
The tracks range from sleek freeway techno (“110 Cruising”) to arcade lurker acid (“Coast 2 Coast”) to big room bangers (“666 Ambience”), time-traveling across the canon of club music and sifting through tricks and styles to fashion fresh anthems of hypnagogic jack. Ultimately, ‘New Standard’ is an album channeled as much as crafted, tapping into the decks of mythic warehouse infinities past and present. The album is available for pre-order now and will be released on November 17, 2023.
