Evian Christ Finally Unveils Debut Album ‘Revanchist’ Through Warp Records

Evian Christ, the celebrated trance evangelist, is ready to launch his highly anticipated debut album, titled ‘Revanchist’. Warp Records, renowned for its selection of avant-garde artists, is set to release the album on October 20th.
Accompanying this announcement is the lead single from the album, ‘On Embers’. This track starts with a gripping crunch and evolves to reach ethereal heights, masterfully integrating a gospel house sample.
Fans have eagerly awaited a full-length album from the artist hailing from Ellesmere Port ever since his official association with Warp Records in 2015. Though rumors about this album being in the works have persisted for years, they’ve always remained just that – rumors.
In a twist during 2017’s Barcelona’s Sónar Festival, a release announcement was made accompanied by a photograph of footballer Ibrahim Affelay, which was humorously supplied by Evian Christ as his official artist image. However, the album remained elusive.
The wait was partially satiated when Christ dropped ‘Ultra’ in 2020, marking his first individual release since the ‘Waterfall’ EP in 2014. During the intervening years, Christ was not dormant. He contributed to projects involving notable rappers such as Le1f, Travis Scott, and Danny Brown, after his acclaimed contribution to Kanye West’s 2013 ‘Yeezus’. Moreover, Christ was instrumental in creating the Trance Party club night series.
Now, with the album’s official confirmation, fans can look forward to collaborations with artists like Bladee and Merely. The album also contains samples from diverse sources like Emptyset, Madonna, and Laibach. In terms of sound design and mixing, it draws inspiration from Sasha’s renowned ‘Xpander’ EP. The album cover is a collaboration between designer David Rudnick and art from Lars Hertervig, a 19th-century Norwegian landscape painter, and British video artist Chris Bucklow.
To promote ‘Revanchist’, Evian Christ has outlined a series of tour dates spanning Europe and a special appearance in New York. These performances will showcase both his live sets and DJing prowess.
