Dr. Dre and Eminem have had a longstanding collaboration in the music industry. Dre signed Eminem to his label, Aftermath, in 1998, and has been supporting him throughout his career. While Eminem started his own label, Shady Records, in 1999, he has remained signed to Aftermath.
Despite their close relationship, the two legendary artists have only co-signed an artist to both their labels once before, with the exception of an unreleased debut by rapper Stat Quo. Therefore, it comes as a surprise that in 2023, they have once again joined forces to sign a new artist.
The artist in question is Filipino rapper, Ez Mil. Born in the Philippines to a musician father, he later moved to Las Vegas where he began recording music. Eminem took notice of Ez Mil’s song “Up Down (Step & Walk)” and decided to sign him. He even tweeted a link to the song’s video, expressing his excitement about this new collaboration.
In an interview with HipHop-n-More, Eminem explained their decision to sign Ez Mil. He emphasized their selectiveness when it comes to signing artists and their preference for unique talent. Dre also shared his enthusiasm, stating that he looks for music that stands out from the crowd and that he can bring something special to. When Eminem played Ez Mil’s music for him, they both knew they had found something extraordinary.
Ez Mil will release a new version of his 2022 album, “DU4LI7Y: REDUX,” on August 11th. The album will feature a track called “Realest,” featuring Eminem. In the meantime, you can check out Ez Mil’s song “Up Down (Step & Walk)” on YouTube.
This collaboration between Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Ez Mil promises to be something exceptional. With their track record of success and their shared belief in Ez Mil’s talent, fans can anticipate groundbreaking music from this trio.
