Four Tet, whose real name is Keiran Hebden, recently spoke about the viral moment when he dropped ‘Country Riddim’ during his b3b headline set with Skrillex and Fred again.. at Coachella in May. This DJ and producer described it as an “out-of-body experience” before mixing the track into ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’. He said, “Absolutely lost my marbles. It was like knowing I’ve got the funniest joke in the world and 100,000 people are about to lose their minds. It’s one of the most powerful feelings I’ve experienced in my whole life.”

During his first interview in eight years, Four Tet also shared insights into his friendship with Skrillex and Fred again.., recalling how his bromance with Skrillex began in 2015 when they played a b2b in Camden. He mentioned how Skrillex had stopped everything and played the Lion King theme tune and since then, they have challenged each other to mix out of chaotic tracks.

The interview also touched upon Four Tet’s family life, including his daughter’s reaction to a Taylor Swift edit he created “for her”. He also mentioned that his 73-year-old mother’s favorite DJ is Ben UFO, saying, “She’s always like: ‘Ben crushed it.'”

Four Tet discussed the years-long legal battle with his former record label Domino, which eventually resulted in him being awarded £57,000 in backdated royalties. He described it as a brutal experience but also a career highlight, acknowledging the intense nature of falling out with close friends at Domino.
