The much-anticipated second album from the duo H31R, composed of Brooklyn rapper Maassai and New Jersey producer J Words, is on the horizon. Scheduled for release on November 17, the album titled ‘HeadSpace’ will be available via Big Dada, a sublabel of Ninja Tune. The release is being teased with a music video for the lead single, “Backwards,” which can be viewed below.

Mike Weir, the director of “Backwards,” expressed his excitement about working with H31R. He said, “I was thrilled when H31R asked me to create the video, as I was eager to make something reminiscent of Pharcyde’s ‘Drop.’ I believe we’ve created something special, and I hope everyone enjoys it.”

Reflecting on the experience of bringing the concept of “Backwards” to life, H31R stated, “It was fantastic to work on the visuals for ‘Backwards.’ It’s incredibly satisfying to see a concept we’ve had for so long finally materialize. It allowed us to pay tribute to artists we respect while also creating something original.”

The collaboration between Maassai and J Words is not new. They released their H31R debut album, ‘Ve·loc·i·ty,’ in September 2020 and have also collaborated on other projects such as “My Name Jack?” and ‘With the Shifts.’
