Sarah Morgan and Georgia Bird, originally from the Melbourne/Naarm electronic scene, emerged as solo artists but soon gained prominence as the duo, IN2STELLAR. Their mutual musical journey began in the mid-2010s with the organization of the Neurotiq Erotiq parties in Melbourne. Although they attended the same school, their collaboration as DJs and eventually producers only began later.
Both Sarah and Georgia had similar introductions to electronic music, immersing themselves in dance and club music during their teenage years. While their individual styles differ slightly—with Georgia favoring synths and basslines and Sarah leaning towards percussion and rhythm—they found common ground in 1990s rave sounds, breakbeats, early 2000s trance, and house music.
Their collaborative effort, Neurotiq Erotiq, was inspired in part by the female-led collective Discwoman. The party series, now six years old, was designed to elevate local talent, providing both a stage for emerging DJs and a sense of community.
The duo’s reputation continued to grow, and they eventually released their debut EP on the Phenomena label, further establishing their place in the electronic music scene. The EP, which offers a glimpse into their current musical influences, was the result of a European tour and a subsequent summer dedicated to production.
Georgia has been instrumental in the establishment of the Phenomena label alongside other music aficionados. The label emerged during lockdown, aiming to connect with the global music community and highlight budding talent.
In addition to their original tracks, IN2STELLAR has also contributed to remixes, often challenging themselves to reimagine existing material while maintaining their unique sound.
When performing live, their track-for-track DJ style offers a seamless experience, reflecting years of collaboration and a shared musical vision. The duo recently shared their club-focused mix for a Groove podcast, which offers a snapshot of their signature sound and provides a taste of their upcoming releases.
Looking forward, IN2STELLAR is gearing up for a European tour, followed by a series of festivals back in Australia. Fans can also anticipate their forthcoming EP, set to launch this September, with more surprises in store for 2024.
