Oneohtrix Point Never, the musical alias of Daniel Lopatin, has released “A Barely Lit Path,” the lead track from his upcoming album, ‘Never,’ set to be released on September 29 via Warp Records. The track, which also serves as the album’s climactic finale, is fortified by an orchestra conducted and arranged by Robert Ames and performed by the NOMAD Ensemble. The accompanying music video was directed by Freeka Tet, based on a treatment by Lopatin and Tet.
Daniel Lopatin’s ‘Never,’ also known as ‘LP Again,’ is partially a “speculative autobiography,” born from a collaboration between Lopatin’s current self and his younger self. It is a reflection on his musical identity during his young adulthood, viewed from the vantage point of middle age. This introspective project promises to offer a deep dive into the artist’s evolution and the musical journey that has shaped him into the artist he is today.
