Melbourne-based quartet Parsnip, gearing up for the release of their upcoming album “Behold” on April 26th via Upset The Rhythm, returns with their latest single, “Turn To Love.” This time, the band draws inspiration from the spiritual realm, delving into the divine with a poignant message of love derived from the writings of Indian saint Mirabai, as featured in “Autobiography of a Yogi” by Paramahansa Yogananda. Parsnip infuses their energetic, DIY punk sound with Mirabai’s timeless wisdom, emphasizing love as the pathway to discovering the divine, a sentiment beautifully echoed in the song’s closing verses.

Accompanying the release is a visually captivating music video for “Turn To Love,” which mirrors the eclectic fusion of influences that inspired the track. Bursting with vibrant colors reminiscent of the magical Land of Oz, the video draws inspiration from an array of sources, including the works of photographer Serge Lutens, the avant-garde Oskar Schlemmer Triadic Ballet, and the iconic fashion campaigns of Yohji Yamamoto. Additionally, elements from the extravagant costumes of the Ziegfeld Follies and American circuses from the late 19th to mid-20th centuries blend seamlessly to create a visually stunning backdrop for the song’s message of love and transformation.

Reflecting on the track, Parsnip’s Paris Rebel Richens shares a profound insight into its essence, envisioning a world where love takes precedence in every aspect of life. With “Turn To Love,” the band extends a heartfelt plea for inner reflection and introspection, emphasizing that true change begins from within. Choosing love, according to Richens, is an act of courage and wisdom, transcending perceived weaknesses and ushering in profound transformations that resonate both personally and universally.
