Pharrell Williams, the renowned musician and producer, has joined forces with Voices of Fire to create a powerful new song. Titled “Joy (Unspeakable),” this collaboration showcases the incredible talents of Williams and the esteemed gospel choir from Hampton Roads, Virginia, which also happens to be Williams’ hometown. The founder of Voices of Fire, Bishop Ezekiel Williams, is Pharrell’s uncle, adding a special familial connection to the project. You can listen to “Joy (Unspeakable)” below.
Bishop Ezekiel Williams expressed his excitement about working with Pharrell, stating that collaborating with him is always an amazing and inspiring experience. He further emphasized that the moment in the studio when the dream team, consisting of Pharrell, Voices of Fire, Pastor Larry George, and himself, came together to create this song, felt like a destiny fulfilled.
Voices of Fire recently gained attention through a self-titled Netflix documentary series that chronicles their remarkable journey. Bishop Ezekiel Williams handpicked the members of this nontraditional gospel choir after conducting a series of auditions in Hampton Roads. Their unique story and incredible talent have captivated audiences worldwide.
In addition to his musical endeavors, Pharrell Williams is set to unveil his debut collection for Louis Vuitton menswear later this month. “Joy (Unspeakable)” comes as Pharrell’s first musical collaboration of the year, after appearing on the track “4eva” by Kaytraminé last month. In 2022, he has already collaborated with notable artists such as Tyler, the Creator and 21 Savage (“Cash In Cash Out”), Calvin Harris, Justin Timberlake, and Halsey (“Stay With Me”), and Travis Scott (“Down in Atlanta”). Williams continues to push boundaries and showcase his versatility as a musician and producer.
It is worth mentioning that severe weather conditions forced the cancellation of the final day of Pharrell’s Something in the Water 2023 music festival in April. Despite this setback, Pharrell’s dedication to his craft remains unwavering.
