Pixies Announce New Album “The Night the Zombies Came” with Latest Single “You’re So Impatient” – Pre-order Now

Pixies, the iconic indie band known for their unique blend of punk and alternative rock, are making a comeback with their upcoming album, “The Night the Zombies Came.” Set to be released on October 25th through BMG, the album features a mix of country-tinged ballads like ‘Primrose’ and ‘Mercy Me,’ as well as furious punk tracks like ‘You’re So Impatient’ and ‘Oyster Beds.’ The band’s songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist, Black Francis, describes the album as a collection of fragments that are related and juxtaposed with each other, creating a kind of musical movie.
“The Night the Zombies Came” also marks the return of producer Tom Dalgety, who previously worked with Pixies on albums like “Head Carrier” and “Beneath the Eyrie.” Drummer David Lovering has even referred to Dalgety as the band’s “fifth Pixie.” The recording sessions for the album took place at Guilford Sound studio in Vermont, where the band welcomed new bass player Emma Richardson and saw an expanded role for guitarist Joey Santiago.
On the new record, Santiago wrote the lyrics to ‘Hypnotised’ by completing a complex lyrical riddle known as a sestina. This marks a significant milestone for the guitarist, who also contributed lyrics to Pixies’ previous album, “Doggerel.” With the addition of Richardson and Santiago’s lyrical contributions, Pixies are evolving and pushing the boundaries of their sound.
In addition to the album release, Pixies have announced a series of live dates for 2024, including a European and UK tour in July and August. The tour will see the band perform at sold-out venues and festivals across Europe, showcasing their energetic live performances and long-standing fan base.
In November, Pixies will also embark on a tour of Auckland and New Zealand with Pearl Jam, further solidifying their presence in the international music scene.
