In a touching tribute to his late nephew and fellow Migos member, Takeoff, Quavo has released a new album titled ‘Rocket Power’. This release comes nearly ten months after the unfortunate demise of Takeoff.
The album boasts a selection of notable features, including a posthumous contribution from Takeoff on the track “Patty Cake”. It also houses collaborations with the likes of Future in “Turn Yo Clic Up” and Young Thug in “Focused”. However, conspicuously absent from the album’s lineup is Offset, the third member of Migos, though he did share the stage with Quavo during the 2023 BET Awards in June.
Drawing inspiration from Takeoff’s moniker and his solo album ‘The Last Rocket’, ‘Rocket Power’ was publicly announced in May. Taking to Instagram, Quavo expressed his profound emotions tied to the album, stating, “This album is for the Rocket, our true fans, and also, this is my therapy.” He delved deep into his emotions, reflecting on the highs and lows he’s been experiencing, and acknowledged the resilience instilled in him by Takeoff.
To mark the release of ‘Rocket Power’, a grand celebration was organized at a New York City planetarium. The event saw an interesting twist as guests were greeted by a mascot bearing a strong resemblance to Quavo.
As fans immerse themselves in Quavo’s latest work, it’s clear that ‘Rocket Power’ is more than just an album; it’s a heartfelt ode to a dearly missed family member and collaborator. The album stands as a testament to the strength and resilience of an artist navigating grief and loss, seeking solace in music.
