London’s acclaimed singer-songwriter, Sampha, has lifted the veil on his upcoming album, “Lahai”. The revelation came via an Instagram post on Thursday, August 24, leaving fans in high anticipation for the successor to his 2017 masterpiece, “Process”. Notably, the album derives its name from Sampha’s own lineage – “Lahai” was his grandfather’s name and also serves as his middle name.

Sampha eloquently captioned the announcement, setting an evocative tone for what’s to come: “‘LAHAI’. My grandfather’s name. My middle name. My next musical chapter. My next album. Fever Dreams. Continuums. Dancing. Generations. Syncopation. Bridges. Grief. Motherlands. Love. Spirit. Fear. Flesh. Flight.”

The new album isn’t the only excitement stirring for Sampha’s followers. Earlier in the week, he teased his audience with a snippet of a fresh, as-yet-unnamed track on his Instagram. Furthermore, June witnessed the release of “Spirit 2.0”, his first solo single in an impressive six-year span. Beyond his solo ventures, Sampha lent his distinct vocals to Travis Scott’s recent album “Utopia”, collaborating with Bon Iver on the track “My Eyes”.

Although “Lahai” remains shrouded in mystery without a confirmed release date, the thematic essence shared by Sampha promises an intimate exploration of his roots, emotions, and musical evolution. Fans and critics alike await, with bated breath, the next poignant chapter from this multifaceted artist.
