Comprising fellow Radiohead member Thom Yorke and Sons of Kemet‘s Tom Skinner, The Smile has been brewing a creative storm during their hiatus from live performances.

Greenwood expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the band’s abundance of new material. He stated, “the frustration of having not had access to playing in a band for a couple of years [has] just built up a big backlog of ideas.” Eager to continue their creative momentum, he added, “we’re still firing off each other, and it feels productive. The Smile made their debut with the release of their album “A Light For Attracting Attention” in 2022. He shared, “We were doing a lot of the songs live, and we’ve made some faithful recordings of those… I think [the record is about] the whole dynamic of three people and the limits that you have… and trying to enjoy that and work within them.”

Last summer, The Smile debuted some of their new material during festival performances, generating anticipation among their fan base. Currently, the band is preparing for a tour of North America, scheduled for this month and the next, where they will showcase their captivating live performances.
