Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood have unveiled an exciting new art exhibition titled “The Crow Flies Part One.” Featuring collaborative paintings by the duo, the exhibition is set to take place at the renowned Tin Man Art gallery in London from September 6th to 10th.

The title of the exhibition, “The Crow Flies Part One,” draws inspiration from the famous 1970 poem “Crow” by Ted Hughes, similar to Yorke’s side project, the Smile. Interestingly, the paintings showcased in this exhibition were created by Yorke and Donwood between 2021 and 2023. Initially, these artworks were intended to serve as cover art for the Smile’s debut album, “A Light For Attracting Attention,” released in 2022.

Stanley Donwood, who has been responsible for creating all of Radiohead’s album and promotional artwork since 1994, collaborated closely with Thom Yorke on this project. Their creative process involved incorporating influences from various sources, such as the Bodleian Libraries’ collection of Islamic pirate maps and 1960s US military topographic charts. Additionally, the paintings boast an extensive language of signs and symbols, meticulously developed by Donwood and Yorke.
