Air Miami’s long-awaited reissue of their debut album, Me. Me. Me., brings the beloved lo-fi indie pop rock from 1995 back into the spotlight. Comprising of UNREST’s Mark Robinson and Bridget Cross, Air Miami took shape after the dissolution of the influential D.C. indie rock band in 1995. Teaming up with drummer Gabriel Stout and producer Guy Fixsen (known for his work with The Breeders, My Bloody Valentine, and Stereolab), they ventured to Miami’s iconic Criteria Studios to record the entirety of the album. This expanded deluxe edition features all sixteen tracks from the original release, with three additional previously unreleased songs: ‘Warm Miami May,’ ‘Pucker,’ and the full version of ‘See-Through Plastic.’ With influences reminiscent of Deerhoof, Sonic Youth, and The Breeders, Air Miami’s timeless sound has found new appreciation, evident in the recent cover of their hit track ‘Seabird’ by current 4AD artist Maria Somerville.
Me. Me. Me. immerses listeners in Air Miami’s distinct blend of spunky lo-fi indie pop rock, capturing the essence of their energetic and creative style. The album’s recording at Criteria Studios, renowned for hosting iconic artists like James Brown, Aretha Franklin, and Fleetwood Mac, adds another layer of history to this reissue. Mixed in London at the same time Lush was working on their acclaimed LP Lovelife, the album showcases Air Miami’s musical prowess and enduring relevance in the indie rock scene.
Fans and new listeners alike can now enjoy the deluxe reissue of Me. Me. Me., relishing in its expanded tracklist that includes previously undiscovered gems. With influences that resonate with fans of Deerhoof, Sonic Youth, and The Breeders, Air Miami’s reemergence is sure to captivate and solidify their status as a timeless force in lo-fi indie pop rock. Following Maria Somerville’s cover of ‘Seabird,’ the band’s popularity continues to attract new fans, ensuring Air Miami’s music will be cherished for years to come.
