During the pandemic, LA-based jazz and electronic musician Earthtones, also known as Serge Bandura, and Kevin Nathaniel, a student of the renowned African master musicians Ephat Mujuru and Chief Bey K, came together to create a collection of soothing and meditative music.
In their collaboration, the duo beautifully combines the gentle plucks of mbira and kalimba with warm analogue synth sounds, resulting in a 28-minute composition titled “Of the Earth (Full Meditation)”. This enchanting piece is divided into three parts: the awakening “Of the Earth”, the serene and immersive “Slow Emotion”, and the dreamy and tranquil “Sonrise”. With this project, Nathaniel and Earthtones have created a truly relaxing and soothing experience for listeners.
