In 2006, a captivating idea took shape in the mind of John Deek from Divine Frequency, giving birth to Electric Sewer Age. This enigmatic project remained cloaked in secrecy, with only a cryptic announcement in 2009 and a few rough tracks released online hinting at its existence. Adorned with the tagline “an Infinity of Sewers thrown open beneath the Threshold House,” the project intrigued fans, suggesting the involvement of former Coil legends Peter ‘Sleazy’ Christopherson and Danny Hyde. Rumors even circulated that posthumous contributions from John Balance might be included.
Electric Sewer Age was designed as an anonymous aural experiment, intentionally keeping the identity of its creators hidden to free listeners from preconceptions about their involvement. The project was meant to be a sonic exploration untethered by the weight of expectations or prior knowledge. Consequently, little information was publicly shared about the project, even after its initial release.
However, in 2010, tragedy struck with the untimely passing of Christopherson. Suddenly, the first Electric Sewer Age EP took on an unexpected significance, becoming a poignant tribute to the loss of this exceptional musician. These tracks were the final collaborations between Christopherson and his longtime friend and collaborator, Danny Hyde. In 2012, Divine Frequency released the first Electric Sewer Age EP on CD, followed by a vinyl edition in the subsequent year by Danny Hyde. Both editions quickly sold out, leaving fans longing for their return. Now, after years of unavailability, the reissue of “Moon’s Milk In Final Phase” is finally here, courtesy of Soleilmoon Recordings and Danny Hyde.
