The long-awaited reissue of Hiroshi Suzuki’s iconic jazz-fusion-funk album Cat is finally here. Originally released in 1976, this masterpiece has become a holy grail for jazz collectors, lofi beat enthusiasts, and music diggers worldwide. The new edition is sourced from the original masters and is available on limited edition 180 gram vinyl, mastered at half speed to ensure an unparalleled audiophile experience. Additionally, the album is also available on digipack CD, making it accessible to a wider audience. Both versions of Cat come with liner notes by the esteemed Teruo Isono.
Cat holds a revered place in the Japanese jazz scene, captivating listeners across generations, much like Ryo Fukui’s Scenery. Recorded in 1975 at Nippon Columbia Studio, Hiroshi Suzuki crafted this incredible album during a visit to his home country of Japan. After spending several years playing with Buddy Rich and honing his skills in Las Vegas, the talented musician reunited with his dear friends for an extraordinary two-day session of groove magic. The chemistry between the artists remained strong, and Suzuki’s growth as an artist was evident in Cat’s smooth and soulful sound. The album features breathtaking trombone solos by Hiroshi Suzuki, complemented by Takeru Muraoka’s heavenly saxophone and the sensual rhythm section of Hiromasa Suzuki, Kunimitsu Inaba, and Akira Ishikawa.
