The two EPs, “The Desert Inside” (1997) and “Drifting” (1998), from the renowned Italian electro-pioneers Kirlian Camera are often considered closely related and even regarded as ‘twins’ by some. These EPs mark the final phase of the band before Elena Alice Fossi became their permanent vocalist. Despite this transitional period, the compositions and sound showcased in these releases demonstrate a fully matured and confident level of artistry.
“The Desert Inside” and “Drifting” are now available on vinyl as a single album, featuring new artwork and layout that offer a fresh visual reimagination of the original releases. Kirlian Camera, who recently celebrated their 40th anniversary, continue to ignite their musical imagination and explore new frontiers in electronic music. Angelo Bergamini’s distinctive musical style remains the most consistent element, while the band’s mastermind continues to push the boundaries and experiment within the genre.
Kirlian Camera’s artistry has always been characterized by multi-layered compositions and thought-provoking content. They fearlessly provoke and hold up a mirror to the world, often stirring controversies. However, their intent is not to provoke for the sake of it but to navigate the contrast between the pleasing and the gloomy, the otherworldly and the dreamy. This unique approach sets them apart in the realm of music, making them truly exceptional.
