Jeff McIlwain, better known by his stage name Lusine, is back on Ghostly International with his latest EP, Retrace. The Seattle-based Texan producer takes a slight detour from his previous works with a focus on simple yet striking compositions. He makes use of an array of hardware and field recordings to create a fusion of avant-pop-meets-electro, guiding the vocals of Jenn Champion and CIFIKA to create an immediate and engaging sound. Lusine’s restraint pays off in the track ‘Turn Back’, where his house-infused sounds take on a morphing quality, taking the listener on a journey from one place to another.
