Smokey Robinson’s illustrious music career, steeped in the traditions of R&B and soul, marked a significant turning point in 1974. It was then that he released his second solo album post his exit from the renowned Motown vocal group, The Miracles, titled ‘Pure Smokey.’ Released under the banner of Motown’s Tamla label, the album resonated with Robinson’s signature melodies interwoven with soulful lyrics.
Born William Robinson Jr. on February 19, 1940, Smokey Robinson is a celebrated figure in American R&B, soul music, and record production.
