In a reminiscent move towards their initial ventures, the New Zealand duo, Truth, makes a grand return to Deep Medi, the label that marked their beginnings. Last seen on this label in 2020 with ‘Subchasers,’ they now make a comeback with one of their most enchanting compilations since the ‘Shadow People’ project. ‘Temple Of Eye’ stands out with an eerie, spacious, and profoundly resonant atmosphere, encapsulating a gradually escalating sense of slimy tension. Although intense, it’s marked with ample space, tailored explicitly for massive sound systems.
Adding to the collection, ‘The Venusians’ maintains the dancefloor momentum but adopts a lighter, dubby sway infused with trippy eastern vocal textures. On side B, ‘Secret Portal’ evokes the vibes of Daft Punk, Joker, and KOAN Sound, while ‘Galapagos’ incorporates the guitar for a jazzy, sunset cruise. This is Truth showcasing their finest.
