Description
Treading bold musical waters, Verses GT—comprised of Jacques Greene and Nosaj Thing—unleashes onto the music scene with an adventurous self-titled debut album. Released on September 12th under the banner of LUCKYME®, the project is an intricate tapestry woven from the threads of dynamic collaborations and inspired tracks. Verses GT shines not just as an album, but as a body of work encompassing a live show and an immersive collaborative world. Over the years since the release of the singles “Too Close” in 2023 and “RB3” in 2024, and “Unknown” in 2025, the duo has achieved a reflection of contemporary times through an emotion-packed and robust record.
Jason Chung (Nosaj Thing) and Philippe Aubin-Dionne (Jacques Greene) have each carved their distinctive paths in the music industry. Chung, born in Los Angeles, found his rhythm in music at an early age, immersing himself in computers and synthesizers by the age of 12. He has curated tracks for renowned artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Chance the Rapper and Kid Cudi among others. His partner, Aubin-Dionne, a Toronto-based electronic musician, likewise found inspiration from Aphex Twin, leading him to a lifelong journey of making electronic music. They both resonate with the essence of trust as their pathfinder throughout this project, fostering a harmonic balance shaped by an equal give-and-take.
Fans of both Nosaj Thing and Jacques Greene will be met with a meditative masterpiece that spins existing perceptions of music into new directions. Comprising tracks that resonate with surreality, Verses GT moves away from the overused emotional trail, instead sparking a bare, starker aura. Their intention to “reduce outlets and distill it down to its purest essence” paints a vivid renovation of musical expression, tethering listeners into the realm of Verses GT.
One of the highlights of the album is the track “Your Light,” a collaboration with UK-based progressive R&B artist George Riley. Fusing the energy of body-music with a mood of intimacy, this track mimics the dual nature of the creative duo. The facets of Jacques Greene’s stylistic subtlety and Nosaj Thing’s rumbling soundscapes are brilliantly amalgamated, achieving a mutual understanding of their individual, yet intertwined musicality.
Rooted in human relationships, Verses GT, as an expansive project channels diverse artistic inputs, including features from Kučka and TYSON and teamed up with creative personalities Xavier Tera, Terence Teh, and Erin D. Garcia. Together, they have breathed life into a globally-spanning project vibrantly echoing a call-and-response mantra that connects listeners across the globe.
Following the album release, Verses GT is embarking on an extensive global voyage, spanning continents from Europe, North, and Central America to Asia. As a live entity, Verses GT has carved their unique imprint in the music scene, from their maiden live set at MUTEK Montreal in 2024, to various DJ gigs. The tour commences on September 18, drawing fans into the diverse environment of music halls, festival stages and different musical hubs ranging from New York’s famed Webster Hall to Asia’s exhilarating venues. Ultimately, Verses GT contemporizes music, embodying a chorus of cross-cultural dialogue and collective harmony.
