In 1985, Factory Records released Here Comes Everybody, the highly regarded second album by The Wake, a renowned Scottish group. With roots tracing back to Glasgow in 1981, the band was formed by Caesar, who had previously been a part of Altered Images.
The following year, they signed with Factory and had the opportunity to embark on a tour alongside the influential band New Order. The release of their popular mini-album, Harmony, further solidified their presence in the music scene.
Building on their momentum, they unveiled the captivating single “Talk About the Past” in 1984. Here Comes Everybody, recorded as a trio, showcases The Wake’s melodic dreampop compositions intertwined with their evocative and reflective lyrics.
Among the standout tracks, “O Pamela” epitomizes their distinctive style, and later received a captivating interpretation by the innovative French new wave covers project known as Nouvelle Vague.
